LAP invites you to attend a Volunteer Training Session in Waukegan on Friday, September 24 and learn about our services, better understand addiction and mental health problems, and learn how to help colleagues and friends.

At the same time, you will earn six MCLE credits that qalify for the professionalism and ethics requirement. There is no charge for this training.

If you are already a LAP volunteer who has experienced this training, LAP strongly recommends retraining so intervenors and peer coimselors can maintain and improve their skills and knowledge and learn about the changing issues we see in those we help.

Participation in this event does not obligate you to become a LAP volunteer but we hope to increase the number of volunteers in your area. This training is required for all volunteers. When the need arises, we want to have trained volunteers ready to provide assistance.

We hope you will join us on September 24. There is no charge for this event, but space is limited and registration is required.

To register for this event, call the Lake County Bar Association at (847) 244-3143 or use the form on the Lake County Bar Association website at lakebar.org.

Two of LAP’s most popular MCLE presentations are now available on this website. Each is one hour long, free of charge, and qualifies for the professionalism and ethics requirement.

“Striving for Balance in a High Stress Job” addresses the challenges of life/work balance for lawyers and includes practical, healthy solutions for dealing with the lawyer’s world.

“The Impaired Lawyer: When a Colleague Needs Help” focuses on the addiction and mental health problems that sometimes interfere with a lawyer’s ability to work effectively and manage a satisfying personal life. It includes suggestions on how to reach out to colleagues, friends, or family members who may be struggling with these issues.

To experience either of these programs, click on the large photo on the home page and select the MCLE Online option. If you are viewing these programs for MCLE credit, sign in with your email address and your lawyer registration number. If you are viewing them because of general interest and do not require the MCLE certification, simply enter a “0” in place of a lawyer registration number.
